Do yourself a favor and go into your bathroom and look into the mirror. Staring back at you will be the culprit responsible for everything that has happened in your life. That person is the one who has made every decision in your life and that person alone is responsible for all of the good things and all of the not so good things. The good news for you is that you can start right now to take responsibility for your own life and start making wise Biblical decisions to create a great future for yourself.
Pick up your Bible and have a look at all the 'if ye' statements in the scriptures to see how your choices can affect your life. Below are some examples...
Matthew 5:46-47
If ye love them which love you, what reward have you?
If ye salute your brethren only, what do you do more than others?
It is always your choice. Think about the reverse side of what is being said in some of these scriptures. If you want to really get the rewards in life love your enemies. On the surface that sounds so hard but when you do it releases you from so much bondage and gives you so much power it's amazing.
Matthew 6:14-15
If ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Again it comes down to your choice. Your decision to forgive or not forgive brings about certain results into your life. The results will be created by your choices.
Matthew 17:20
If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed... nothing shall be impossible unto you.
WOW! It is not if Mum and Dad have that faith, not your Church, not your Pastor, not your spouse, it's IF YOU have faith as a grain of mustard seed. And check out the results of this 'if you' - nothing shall be impossible for you. Again it's your choice. Struggling to find that faith? Then what are you sowing into your life? Faith comes from hearing and hearing from the word of God. Sounds like to me that the word of God is where all your answers can be found. It's your choice how much you read it, believe it, meditate upon it and sow it into your life.
Perhaps the flip side of this scripture is that if you don't have faith the size of a mustard seed you will find everything seems impossible in your life. Your choices in life have a huge impact.
John 5:47
But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
This was Jesus speaking here and he was talking about the writings of Moses. Many modern day religious people who even call themselves Christian proclaim they believe in Jesus but the Old Testament is just stories and not real. That's not what Jesus said. Many say they believe in Jesus but ignore all of God's word entirely. Jesus made it clear that if we choose not to believe in the words of the Bible then how can we possible believe in him?
John 8:24
If ye believe not that I am he ye shall die in your sins.
Our choice and big consequences hang on the balance of our decision making. We can choose whether or not to believe Jesus. Choosing not to has disastrous consequences.
John 8:31
If ye continue in my word then are ye my disciples.
Once again it comes down to our own personal responsibility. If you continue in his word you are his disciple.
We will finish with one more because it offers what everyone really wants in life - happiness.
John 13:17
If ye know these things, happy are ye if you do them.
Knowing is not enough we have to make the choice to do them if we want happiness.
